If Amazon has flagged your FBA shipments as exceeding the 50-pound weight limit, despite your careful checks, you're not alone. Many sellers experience this issue, often linked to inaccuracies in Amazon's internal processing systems, such as faulty scales or overlapping packages. This article will walk you through disputing these claims and protecting your account health.
If your shipping capabilities are suspended due to shipment-related issues, Amazon provides two ways to address the problem: Acknowledging the Problem or Submitting a Dispute.
To acknowledge the issue and restore your shipping privileges:
Navigate to the Shipping Queue in Seller Central.
Click View problems for the shipment with issues.
On the Shipment Summary page, go to the Problems tab.
Click View Details for the affected item to see the problem description and suggested solutions.
If applicable, review images of the reported issue.
Click the Acknowledge button to resolve the issue.
If you attempt to add a product to a shipping plan without acknowledgment, you’ll see an error message.
To resolve the error, click Resolve Now on the Manage Inventory page to review and acknowledge the problem.
Important Note: Once you acknowledge the problem, suspensions are removed automatically.

How can I download the proof of shipment for my order(s)?
The below guide explains how you can download the proof of shipment documentation
You probably want to send the USL Shipping labels (showing the Boxes, weight) as well.
Submit the dispute within 30 days of receiving the problem notification.
Amazon may request additional information via email, which must be provided within 7 days.
Track dispute progress in the Case Log by searching for the Shipment ID.
If your dispute is denied or unresolved, re-open or open a new support case through Seller Central.
Track all communications, including dates and responses.
7. Escalate if Necessary
If the penalties persist or your account health is impacted, consider escalating the issue by raising multiple cases or posting in Amazon Seller Forums where others may share similar experiences.
Processing Errors: Packages processed too closely together may result in inaccurate weights, with two boxes being weighed as one.
Faulty Scales: A malfunctioning scale can miscalculate weight.
Video Evidence Issues: Amazon’s system often cuts out surrounding packages in video evidence, making disputes challenging. NOTE: If you can't see space before after your package, of an empty conveyor belt/Track, that is probably because there was another package right next to it causing the overweight problem.
What happens if I lose a dispute?
You can open a new case to readdress the issue. Losing multiple disputes could impact your account health, so persistence is key.
How can I check the status of my dispute?
Visit your Case Log in Seller Central and search using the Shipment ID.
How does this affect my account health?
Frequent violations can lower your performance rating and potentially lead to suspension. Address disputes promptly and document all evidence.
Can I resume shipments while disputing?
Acknowledging the violation allows you to resume shipments but removes your ability to dispute. Disputing takes time but preserves your right to challenge the claim and it is a better way to protect your account health.
Include an image showing the Seller Central dashboard with the "Dispute" button highlighted.
By following these steps, you can minimize the impact of erroneous overweight claims and ensure your account remains in good standing.
