How to Handle a Split Order Due to Missing Books in a Shipment
When you order multiple books in one shipment, there are times when we, at the Prep Center, may receive fewer items than expected. Here’s what happens when a book is missing, and what steps you should take to resolve any issues.
If a package arrives at our Prep Center, and we only receive part of your order (e.g., two books instead of three), we will:
Create a Split Order: When we notice that a book is missing, we will automatically create a new "split order" in our system. This split order serves to track the missing item in case it arrives in a later shipment.
Notify You: You will be informed that an item is missing, and we will provide you with the relevant details, including links to the original and split orders. This will help you monitor the situation and ensure that you’re aware of the missing book.
Process Any Later Shipments: If the missing book arrives in a subsequent package, we will promptly receive and process it, updating the order status to reflect that all items have been accounted for.
Review the Order: Check the split order we’ve created to ensure that it matches your original order. You don’t need to process anything yourself; we handle the logistics, but it’s important to confirm the status.
Monitor for Further Updates: Keep an eye out for updates from us. If the missing book arrives, you’ll be notified, and no further action will be required on your part.
Request Refunds if Needed: If the missing item does not arrive after a reasonable period or if you suspect the book won’t be delivered, it’s advisable to contact the seller or marketplace to request a refund for the missing item.
Do Not Duplicate Orders: If you suspect an item is missing, avoid creating duplicate orders to prevent confusion. Our system tracks the split orders, and any duplicates may result in unnecessary cancellations later.
Seller Communication: Should the missing book not arrive within a reasonable timeframe, reach out to the seller to inquire about potential shipping delays or request a refund.
